Wooden Furniture – Timeless and Durable for Years

It’s undeniable that wood is a timeless, excellent, and beautiful material. However, much depends on the climate conditions in which it matures, how long it’s dried, and the subsequent processing. As a wooden furniture workshop, we focus on craftsmanship and perfection. Did you know that wood ages over seven years? And that no two of our pieces are identical? That’s why natural wood is both sturdy and refined. Learn more below.

Why Is Wood Considered Long-Lasting?

You’ve surely heard that wood is a long-lasting and timeless material—and it’s not just about its appearance. Natural wood features in many architectural styles, from minimalist to loft, boho, English, and even modern designs. Its renewability is key: a bit of sanding or routine oiling can give your furniture a fresh, beautiful look. You can easily do all that at home. Remember that, at least every three months, you should apply wood oil to the tabletop or other surfaces. Always apply it following the grain to achieve an even better result. Wooden surfaces coated with lacquer need care as well, so use a special product after each cleaning to help conceal slight imperfections, such as subtle scratches. For your wooden pieces to remain in great shape over time, clean them properly. Use soft cloths and specialized cleaning products on their surfaces—never spray them directly on the wood, and always test them on a hidden spot first before you do a thorough cleanup.

The Benefits of Wooden Furniture in Your Interior

Wooden furniture is not only stylish but also unique. Consider that two identical products from our selection placed side by side will never look exactly the same. Differently arranged grain, subtle dark knots, or slight sheen variations ensure each piece is one of a kind. A Scandinavian-style wooden desk works beautifully in minimalist interiors. It’s not just elegant—it’s also functional, serving perfectly as a work companion or a distinctive vanity. Meanwhile, a wooden nightstand is the perfect finishing touch for a cozy, practically arranged bedroom.

Wooden elements or furniture also improve living conditions. How, exactly? Wood absorbs excess moisture in damp areas and releases it in dry spaces, which benefits the occupants’ comfort and well-being. It’s also a great idea to pair natural wood with a bit of greenery—for instance, by choosing our oak hygrometer with Reindeer moss. This is an excellent option, even for allergy sufferers. You can learn more about it on our blog.

Interestingly, wood can soak up water so effectively that its weight can double! Don’t worry; this doesn’t mean your Scandinavian-style wooden furniture will suddenly become extremely heavy—those are extreme cases.

How to Care for Wooden Furniture at Home

If you want to enjoy wooden furniture for years, you must properly protect and regularly maintain it. For this natural material, its surroundings and the right upkeep are crucial. We’ve mentioned oiling, but that’s not the only step you should take.

What else should you keep in mind when caring for wood?

  • Keep furniture at least 1 meter away from heat sources like fireplaces or radiators.
  • Wooden furniture shouldn’t be exposed to direct sunlight.
  • Before you place wood furniture, make sure everything is level.
  • Wood isn’t suitable for rooms where the temperature is under 15°C or above 40°C.
  • Keep the air humidity at a proper level (a natural hygrometer can help).
  • Clean wooden surfaces regularly—wipe off spills or stains immediately.
  • Never wash wooden furniture with water.

By caring for wooden furniture in this way, you’ll ensure it serves you—and future generations—for many years to come.

Wooden Furniture Care in Practice

The last few months have been a challenge for everyone, and home office has taken on a new meaning. You’ve likely realized it’s crucial to choose the perfect Scandinavian-style desk to make work more comfortable and efficient. But imagine setting a hot cup of coffee or tea on the wooden tabletop while you’re handling paperwork on your computer. That can damage the surface if you don’t use coasters. And what if you spill a glass of water on a wooden nightstand? Immediately wipe away the excess.

Finally, we want to emphasize the most important point. All wooden furniture at Borcas is made from natural materials sourced from local suppliers. Let’s remember that while trees and other plants can thrive without us, we can’t survive without them. Let’s protect nature together!
